Detailed Walkthrough[edit]

This quest is started through the Town Gossip topic, after you've gained 10 points of Leyawiin reputation. You'll be directed to Lebon Dombale, the local wine merchant. Talk to him and order some Shadowbanish Wine; the order will take a week. When you return to pick it up, though, he'll have bad news - the shipment vanished. Since you're an adventurer, he'd like you to track it down and recover it, if possible.

The place to start is Skingrad, with the Surilie brothers. Davide will tell you that everything went out as normal, and Gaston can confirm it; Gaston also suggests that the caravan might have been waylaid around Miscarcand. As (bad) luck would have it, he's right - there's a camp north of the bridge just east of the ruin with several bodies, bandits, and a troll, along with Alan's journal. It says they were attacked and kept going, so it's onward to Anvil.

Your next stop is the Gottshaw Inn, where the caravan made its next stop, though not without more losses. This time, they met up with a Legion patrol and made it the rest of the way to Anvil without incident. Go to the Anvil docks and talk with Newheim the Portly, the dockmaster. He'll doesn't know about the shipment, but he's sure that Alan himself never boarded the ship, so you'll have to search the docks for him. His body is stashed behind the warehouse, under the boat leaning against the building. There's a dagger nearby; take it to get a quest update. Newheim can identify the dagger - it belongs to Old Tobias, a ship's captain staying in The Fo'c's'le. He will (after sufficient threatening) reveal that he gave his dagger to someone else to do the deed, and that said someone is currently on a ship moored in the bay.

Head over to Melkij, who's hanging around by the crane, and give him the password; he'll row you out to the ship, and you're on your own. There's an Orc sailor on the deck; you can bribe him with 100 gold to let you in, or just kill him (but note that doing so will turn everyone hostile). Make your way down through the ship to the captain's cabin; if you bribed your way in, you'll be able to talk to Gorgo Big Claw; he'll offer up the cargo for 1000 gold (or 800 if you push). If you choose to fight him, be warned - he's armed to the teeth and has a full set of enchanted gear.

After you recover the cargo, return to Leyawiin and report back to Lebon. If you tell him you recovered the wine, he'll let you keep it and give you 200 gold on top of it for recovering his goods. You can place a second order for more wine; when this shipment arrives, the quest will be complete. If you say it was lost, he'll be annoyed, and asking him for a new shipment will anger him.

5 Rumours about the wine merchant Lebon Dombale are creeping around the city. They say he has many varieties of good wine. Also, it is possible to make an order for special, rare wines. I'll visit his stall in the city market.
10 Lebon Dombale has promised a delivery of three bottles of Shadowbanish Wine. Perfect, I will have something to take to Nerussa. Hope the wine doesn't cost me too much. In a week, my order should be ready for collection from Dombale's stall. If the player has started A Venerable Vintage.
Lebon Dombale promised to bring me three bottles of Shadowbanish Wine, a very rare wine with most unusual properties. It is said that Nerussa from the Wawnet Inn near Weye is interested in this wine. In a week, my order should be ready for collection from Dombale's stall. If the player hasn't.
10 It's time to pick up my order of three bottles of Shadowbanish Wine at Lebon Dombale's stall in Leyawiin. I'll need to take some more money with me.
20 I need to help Lebon Dombale in his search for his men and my wine. The men were supposed to travel to Skingrad, pick up the wine and other goods, then travel to Anvil, where they should have boarded a ship to Leyawiin. Until the men are found, I will not be able to obtain my Shadowbanish Wine. I need to start my search in Skingrad, by asking the Surilie brothers.
22 Davide Surilie said that all shipments of wine have been collected. I can get the details from his brother, Gaston.
25 Gaston Surilie confirmed the dispatch of wine for Lebon Dombale and advised to look for traces of the caravan on the way to Anvil. Particular attention should be paid near Miscarcand, where robbers and trolls have been seen lately.
30 According to Alan's journal, the caravan reached this place almost without losses, but then was attacked by bandits and trolls. What to do next? Probably worth continuing along the road and looking for more traces. If nothing is found, I will ask at the Gottshaw Inn, which was their next stop.
35 The caravan successfully reached the Gottshaw Inn, then, accompanied by an Imperial patrol, set off for Anvil. That means I have to travel to Anvil, to speak with Newheim the Portly.
40 Newheim the Portly saw Alan arrive in Anvil and dismiss the guards and the driver. But Alan never boarded the ship in Leyawiin. I should search the bay and find Alan.
45 I managed to find Alan's body, a very curious dagger was lying next to him. The handle of the dagger was decorated with an intricate engraving depicting an octopus. I'll ask Newheim if he knows anything about this engraving.
50 Newheim the Portly identified the dagger and advised to look for Old Tobias, the former captain who owned the dagger. I can find him in The Fo'c's'le.
55 Old Tobias told me that next to one of the cranes in the bay, a boat is waiting, with which I can cross to the ship of the smugglers who stole Lebon Dombale's wine. A man named Melkij is guarding the boat, I will need to provide the password that Tobias gave me.
56
60 Melkij took me from Anvil Bay to the smuggler's ship. I should look around.
62
63 I'll try to settle the matter with the captain.
65 I have the key to the chest containing the wine.
66 I managed to recover three bottles of Shadowbanish Wine from Captain Gorgo Big Claw. This is the same valuable cargo that Alan was delivering to Leyawiin on my order. Now I will have to take the wine to Leyawiin myself and resolve the issue with Dombale about paying for the order.
70 I'm in Leyawiin. I should inform Lebon Dombale about the fate of the caravan.
80 Finishes quest☑ I decided to keep the Shadowbanish Wine for myself.
85 Fortunately, I managed to return Lebon Dombale's cargo and inform him about the fate of the caravan. Lebon not only gave me the Shadowbanish Wine as a reward for my help, but he will even inform Count Marius of my help. Also, in a week I can get another shipment of this rare wine from him.
90 A week has passed and I can again go to Lebon Dombale for my Shadowbanish Wine.
100 Finishes quest☑ Lebon Dombale gave me three more bottles of Shadowbanish Wine and told me that the count has taken my story of the missing caravan seriously, increasing patrols around county Leyawiin. Now the roads should be safer.

Notes
  • Not all Journal Entries may appear in your journal; which entries appear and which entries do not depends on the manner in which the quest is done.
  • Stages are not always in order of progress. This is usually the case with quests that have multiple possible outcomes or quests where certain tasks may be done in random order.
  • If an entry is marked as "Finishes Quest" it means the quest disappears from the Active Quest list, but you may still receive new entries for that quest.
  • On PC It is possible to use the console to advance through the quest by entering setstage BANLeyawiinBloodAndWine stage, where stage is the number of the stage you wish to complete. It is not possible to un-complete (i.e. go back) quest stages. See SetStage for more information.
