Chieftain Faorin was the leader of the Hillhunters, one of the prominent Reachfolk clans of the Second Era. He was active in 2E 582, during the Three Banners War, and led his people to the Briar Rock.[1][2]

History[edit]

Medone ca. 2E 582

Little is known of the youth of Faorin. At some point, before 2E 582 he became the chieftain of Hillhunters and fathered a daughter, Medone.[1][3] During that time, as of 2E 568 Hillhunters were counted among the most prominent clans of the Reach.[2]

In 2E 582, the Gray Host descended onto the Reach to search for an ancient artifact of great power. Many of the Reachfolk clans moved to Markarth at the behest of Ard Caddach. The Hillhunter Clan, however, traveled to Briar Rock instead. Led by Chieftain Faorin they hoped to parley and seek refuge with the Thornroot Clan. Some members of the clan questioned his decision to travel to Briar Rock, but they ultimately complied.[4][1] Thornroots turned against the Hillunters, and refused to parley. The Hillhunters were instead imprisoned and made unwilling subjects of the briarheart ritual. The Thornroot hagravens sought to create an army of briarheart berserkers rather than provide protection for all clans.[3]

His daughter, Medone managed to escape the Thornroots.[5] She enlisted the help of a traveler to liberate her clan and father, as well as burn the briarheart tree in Dead Crone Rock. The traveler fought their way through Briar Rock and burned down the tree and freed the members of the Hillhunter Clan, including Chieftain Faorin, who was imprisoned in the tower,[6] as Hagravens decided to save him for a special ritual related to the creation of the new Briarheart Tree.[1][5] They later moved on to parlay with the Wayward Guardians, led by Arana.[7]

After Faorin and the clan were liberated from the Thornroots, they found shelter in the mountains. Once the vampiric threat of the Gray Host, has ended in the Reach they relocated to the lowlands. Chieftain Faorin decided that his daughter Medone was ready to lead the clan and continued to prepare her for that role.[1][3]

Together with his daughter, he attended the ceremony during which the peace between Nords and Reachfolk was signed.[8][1][3]
