Alabaster and Leyawiin connection[edit]

I believe that Leyawiin and Alabaster are one of the same, or at least, can't exist with the other. In Arena, Alabaster is located on the southeastern border, which actually extends to the Lower Niben, where Leyawiin would be in Oblivion. When Oblivion came around, that area was claimed by the Empire, and Leyawiin sits there. So either Alabaster is a pre-imperial Leyawiin or Alabaster is no longer canon, or it's a continuity error. I think Leyawiin and Alabaster are mentioned in ESO, so the first two possibilities are probably not the answer. --Vincentius1 (talk) 17:35, 17 September 2017 (UTC)

They're just two different cities, located close to each other. I suppose you base your observation on what the maps in Arena looked like, but while the border on Arena's Cyrodiil map does seem shifted to the east a little bit, it still doesn't go all the way to the Niben River, as can be seen here. Alabaster is mentioned in Oblivion itself: in the quest Whispers of Death, the Night Mother may tell you about someone from "the small, unnamed village just west of the city of Alabaster, in the Khajiit homeland of Elsweyr" requiring the Dark Brotherhood services. Like you said, ESO also mentions both cities. --Vordur Steel-Hammer (TINV1K) 18:23, 17 September 2017 (UTC)
Leyawiin is an ancient city, mentioned as far back as the late Ayleid period. Also, Leyawiin spans the Niben River, which was part of the Imperial Province in Arena (the river was called the "Imperial Run" in that game). As you can see from Arena's Elsweyr map, Alabaster is nowhere near the Niben. —Legoless (talk) 18:30, 17 September 2017 (UTC)
You guys are probably right. It also had to do with the fact that, that area has been disputed because it was once a part of Elsweyr and that the Elsweyr map in the 3rd Pocket Guide doesn't show Alabaster for some reason, but I guess that doesn't really matter since the other maps don't show other cities either. --Vincentius1 (talk) 18:42, 17 September 2017 (UTC)

Unnamed Town[edit]

This is the second time this information has been removed from the page (2018, 2019). The reasoning given is that the town is "not Alabaster" because it's outside the city walls. This is shoddy reasoning to rely on when deleting relevant lore info from the page.

If you check the source dialogue, it is made clear that this town is "just west" of the city, meaning it is close by. This is very much noteworthy. Additionally, nearly every city article in lorespace now names nearby settlements (mostly based on Arena era info), so the idea that we shouldn't mention neighbouring towns and cities is completely wrong. Discussing the nearby locales surrounding a major city that hasn't been visited since 1994 is objectively an improvement to the article and I'm strongly opposing any future removals of this info on notability grounds. —Legoless (talk) 15:38, 12 May 2021 (UTC)

Yea it should never have been removed. I know its not the most important thing to ever grace our minds but its still useful information that shouldn't be deleted. The Rim of the Sky (talk) 17:53, 12 May 2021 (UTC)
