Same location[edit]

Is there really anything to conclusively state that the town of Heljarchen and the private estate of Heljaechen Hall built in Hearthfire are the same location? There’s nothing to suggest that it’s anything but an empty plot like the other two estates. The village of Heljararchen was supposed to be located slightly to the east of the estate but as stated in the article only the inn made it into the final game. The estate’s name could just as likely be a reference to the cut town located nearby on the map and a way to make use of the new Nordicised name Heljarchen.

A connection between the Arena settlement and Skyrim estate seems more like trivia for the notes section than a canonical in universe fact. Many locations that appeared in Arena or were mentioned in lore don’t make an in game appearance, that doesn’t always mean that they no longer exist in-universe. Isn’t it also possible the town stills exists, maybe even in it’s intended location and is just unseen in-game? . --StormySkies (talk) 16:29, 24 July 2022 (UTC)

same name 😐 The Rim of the Sky (talk) 18:39, 24 July 2022 (UTC)
Same name, same general location. It's not the first time map positions have changed, many Skyrim settlements have moved around the map over the years, e.g. see this map of Whiterun. —Legoless (talk) 22:04, 24 July 2022 (UTC)
Makes sense. I know they moved around many of the settlements on the Arena map, just was a little unsure here. This on the other hand does not add up. The settlement’s location was moved to the complete opposite side of the map from the location previously established by both Arena and background lore, which specifically notes it’s location as being east to that of Whiterun.
The original location of Sunguard is still maintained in Skyrim’s lore. In addition to this while many of Arena’s generic sounding settlement names are altered in later games to sound more Tamrielic, it’s still worth nothing that the name’s spelling is tweaked from Sunguard which is used in both Arena and background lore to Sungard, which wile very close omits the letter U from the name. --StormySkies (talk) 04:31, 29 July 2022 (UTC)
