Saint's Shield[edit]
Saint's shield is also sold by various enchanters from both mage's guild and temple. Occasionally its available in balmora mage's guild sold by galbedir — Unsigned comment by 24.168.28.32 (talk) on 21 June 2010
- The page already mentions that, by linking to the l_m_enchantitem_temple_rank0_2 leveled list. rpeh •T•C•E• 07:51, 21 June 2010 (UTC)
- Should it really be in this section then, instead of in generic magic items? — Unsigned comment by 85.191.86.135 (talk) on 17 July 2011
Merge this page away[edit]
This page is confusing and serves no purpose; it just pointlessly "ghettoizes" a few items in a page hardly anyone's going to find. Half of these items appear in random loot and vendor inventory, so they belong at Morrowind:Generic Magic Armor. The other half are specific to quest-line locations and actions, and belong in Morrowind:Quest Items (though some are not unique – they may appear in 2+ quests). There is no corresponding Tribunal:Special Magic Armor or Bloodmoon:Special Magic Armor, so the merge will increase consistency and better match both reader and editor expectations. An examination like this may need to be done at Morrowind:Special Magic Weapons, as well. That page, too, will serve no purpose if divvying up what's listed there into Morrowind:Generic Magic Weapons and Morrowind:Quest Items by the same criteria would leave nothing behind, or leave only one or a couple of items (could they fit in Morrowind:Artifact Weapons or Morrowind:Unique Weapons? If not, can we slightly tweak the scope of either the Generic Weapons or Quest Items pages to include them?). Remember that all these things are also listed in articles for weapons and armor (as applicable) by type anyway. — Darklocq ☎ ¢ 03:03, 2 March 2018 (UTC)
Update: I've checked, and Morrowind:Special Magic Weapons is in the same boat. It's all generic items sold or otherwise found in multiple places; or its found only in one quest-related place/on one quest-related person; or in two cases they're only found in one place but are just variants of generic items. The Morrowind:Generic Magic Weapons page already includes other items of this sort (even some that, due to Bethesda oversights, do not appear in-game at all). — Darklocq ☎ ¢ 03:46, 2 March 2018 (UTC)
- Special Magic Clothing would, I presume also come under this, as well as the disambig at Special Magic Apparel which would become redundant. Silence is GoldenBreak the Silence 04:48, 2 March 2018 (UTC)
- Ah! Haven't looked at that one yet. In the middle of other stuff. — Darklocq ☎ ¢ 09:16, 2 March 2018 (UTC)
- Update: Yes, this one can be merged away, too. Every item in it is non-unique, and non-quest-specific, either a) available in random loot and randomly from sellers of magic items; or b1) not appearing in game at all (pure vanilla) or b2) available from Elbert Nermarc as randomly sold magic items. Nothing "special" about any of them. — Darklocq ☎ ¢ 03:56, 31 May 2018 (UTC)
- In principle, I agree. If a non-artifact, non-quest, non-unique item is available from vendors or from random loot, it should be moved to the corresponding "Generic Magic <Item>" page.
- However, there are a few exceptions - items that do have limited availability (aka. not-so-generic):
- Special Magic Armor: Bonedancer Gauntlet, Boneweave Gauntlet, Blood Feat Shield
- Special Magic Clothing: Just the 6th House Amulet
- Special Magic Weapons: Ancient Silver Dagger, Dagoth Dagger
- So, I have to grudgingly admit, we can't fully merge the "Special Magic" pages to their "Generic Magic" counterparts. What we can do, however, is:
- Merge what can be merged.
- Take the six unmerge-able items above and put them in a single page, very much like what was done with Quest Items.
- Also, maybe name that page "Rare Magic Items" because "Special" is not exactly a helpful label. (ie. "special" how?)
- I'll get to it at a later date, when I have more time. For now, though, any feedback? Salamangkero (talk) 04:03, 26 April 2023 (UTC)
- If it's not too late, I'd suggest "Semi-unique" or "limited quantity" for the name of the page on those six items. --Agiletek (talk) 06:53, 28 June 2023 (UTC)
- On second thought, I really feel like creating a new page for just these six items seem like overkill. Thus, I've checked how other namespaces deal with almost-unique items and found that their "Unique Items" lists (and categories) do include items that are, technically, not unique at all. Examples include the Black Hand Hood and the Black Hand Robe from Oblivion as well as the Diadem of the Savant, the Dragon Priest Daggers and the Mythic Dawn Robes from Skyrim.
- I think I'll do the same: move them to their respective "Unique <Items>" pages and just add a note how they are, strictly speaking, not unique at all. Looks like we have already have some precedents anyway, like the Dwemer Pneuma-Trap and the Ebony Arrows of Slaying. Salamangkero (talk) 12:53, 2 July 2023 (UTC)
