Dive Rock is a mountain and campsite north of Cheydinhal (quest-related).
It is high in the Jerall Mountains, making access difficult. The recommended route by foot is to head to Aerin's Camp via the unmarked road from Cheydinhal. Continue southeast from Aerin's Camp along the cliff face until some trees begin to appear on the mountainside. It is possible to climb this "valley" by roughly following the treeline. When the trees taper off, cutting back across the mountains to the northwest will lead directly to Dive Rock; however, this route also passes the Uderfrykte Matron, the Horror of Dive Rock. Alternatively, proceeding to the northeast will lead to the edge of the map, which may be followed to the northwest to a point above Dive Rock. When the landmark icon appears on your compass or you see Dive Rock's campfire, you can safely descend without encountering the Matron. Continuing along the ridge above Dive Rock leads to a view of a valley in Skyrim to the north, likely in the Rift.
The campsite consists of a tent with two bedrolls, a lit campfire, Agnar's Journal, and a non-respawning sack containing an inkwell, five iron arrows, three bottles of mead, a quill, two repair hammers, five pieces of venison, a wolf pelt, and 23 gold. On a clear day, the site offers one of the most spectacular views in the province.
Related Quests[edit]
- The Horror of Dive Rock: Slay the Horror of Dive Rock, the Uderfrykte Matron (non-journal).
Notes[edit]
- If you stand on the southernmost tip of Dive Rock, a message window will appear indicating you have a "rare view of the Imperial Province." Three location markers will then be added to your map (for Fanacas, Kingscrest Cavern, and Quickwater Cave). This message will appear even when you cannot actually see anything, such as at night or in the middle of a blizzard.
- The campsite was set up by two Nords from Thirsk, one of whom will be familiar if you have played Bloodmoon. The journal at the campsite tells the doomed Nords' story, leading to the non-journal quest The Horror of Dive Rock.
- At the base of the cliff to the southwest, just north of Aerin's Camp, is the body of an unlucky climber named Andre Labouche. A note on his body from his worried daughter explains why his choice of mountaineering as a hobby was probably not wise.
- A Camonna Tong Thug may rarely be present at Dive Rock. The thug may commit suicide by walking off the cliff in an attempt to return to Aerin's Camp.
- Dive Rock also appears in Legends.
