Rulantaril Oran is a Dark Elf mage found in the Crow's Wood, a pocket realm of Evergloam. He went there to gain access to a powerful source of magic guarded by the Crow Mother but he became trapped there after making a pact with her.

Rulantaril reuniting with his son

If you kill the Crow Mother, he will reunite with Telbaril near the portal. You can talk to him there:

"Well done, friend. That hag had no business keeping me here. You did the right thing."

Forcing Rulantaril to Stay

If you decide to subdue him, he will initially be resistant. Wear him down enough and he'll relent:

Rulantaril Oran: "Enough! Enough, curse you! I yield!"

Once subdued, he will give up and teleport back to the Crow Mother upstairs:

Rulantaril Oran: "The witch gets her way. I'll stick to the terms of our deal."

Return to the Crow Mother and you'll hear:

Crow Mother: "Isn't this better, my love? No more bickering?"

Rulantaril Oran: "Bickering? I think there will be a lot of bickering when my son gets here."

Crow Mother: "You have a son? I can't wait to meet him. He can stay here with us. There's plenty of room."

Rulantaril Oran: "Great. Just great."

Speak to him and he'll confess:

"It's not all bad. At least I get a feather bed, right?

Ask my son to come up the tower. I'd like him to meet his... er, new stepmother."

What made you think you could cheat this with?

"I don't know. Desperation, I suppose?
I knew I'd made a terrible bargain, and I didn't want to live with it. But I do, don't I?"

Your son followed you here, you know.

"Of course he did. He's my son. He's intelligent and resourceful. I left him all the clues he would need.
I was hoping for a rescue, not rebuke from a stranger. Are we done?"

Killing both Crow Mother and Rulantaril

If you decide to kill both him and the Crow Mother, you will have to go to the Hidden Nest. This exchange happens when you come down:

Crow Mother: "They mean to kill us both, my love. I won't let them hurt you!"

Rulantaril Oran: "Leave me alone, you cursed hag."
