Quest-Related Events[edit]

Azandar needs to collect some specific items from his past to guard against The Adversary. One of these is an alchemical bloodstone, which Nilvon is one of the few alchemists that can create one. When you arrive at Nilvon's room, he will not be happy to see Azandar:

Spellwright Nilvon: "B'vek! I had a premonition last night that Azandar would darken my door. Or, possibly, I had terrible gas. Unpleasant either way."

Talk with Nilvon and ask about getting a Bloodstone from him:

"Azandar al-Cybiades, back in my life. No doubt you're the new assistant?
Tottering along after him like he's got all the answers? What's made you desperate enough to come talk to me?"
We're looking for a bloodstone, to continue Azandar's research.
"Of course you are. It's always about what he needs. Or, rather, what he wants … what that man needs is a different thing entirely.
Wait … I'm sorry. I'm not being fair to you. My professional relationship with Azandar was brief, but intense."
You were Azandar's companion?
"Much the same as you, unless I'm mistaken. He's … well. He's brilliant. And that brilliance draws people in, like a moth to a flame. Just as blinding.
But I digress. You said you needed a bloodstone?"
Yes, do you have one?
"I do, Azandar and I made it together years ago. It's hidden away in a cache of supplies. I'd even be willing to summon it here for you.
If the price is right. Those things are expensive to make, you know."
That's seems fair.
"Easy enough. Just a fair warning, friend. If Azandar offers to pay you back? He probably won't. The man has a hole in his coin purse as deep as Apocrypha.
I'll summon the stone. Take it. And good luck to you."
Thanks for the warning, Nilvon. Here's some coin for your trouble. 69 Gold][69 Gold] Gold
Let me think about this a moment. (Ends Conversation)

After you pay Nilvon, you can wait for him to bring out the bloodstone:

Azandar: "I see you're still holding onto these mephitic notions of victimhood, Nilvon."
Spellwright Nilvon: "And you're still a pompous arse that uses ten coin words when one will do. I'll summon this, and then you two get gone."

Speaking with Nilvon while he does this:

"Let's make this quick. I'm contemplating deep mysteries here and you're going to make me lose my train of thought."

He will leave the bloodstone on the desk, after you pick it up:

Azandar: "For whatever it's worth, Nilvon, I'm sorry that things ended so badly between us. This stone is in excellent shape. Thank you."
Spellwright Nilvon: "Three take you, you pretentious fetcher. Onwards and get out of here."

Talking to Nilvon before leaving:

"That stone is the last one from a cluster we made together years ago. When Azandar and I were on the trail of …. Ah, but what does it matter now?
Good luck, and get gone. Please."
