To Save a Chief
High Priestess Solgra sent Eveli to recruit me for some sort of secret mission. It appears to involve a rescue, but she wants to give me the details in person.

Quick Walkthrough[edit]

  1. Talk to High Priestess Solgra.
  2. Meet Eveli at Fharun Stronghold by following the elf arrows.
  3. Find a way into the prison.
  4. Free the imprisoned Orc chief.
  5. Find the chief's wife to confirm his story.

Detailed Walkthrough[edit]

To meet the optional objective when arriving at the stronghold, follow Eveli's arrows over the top of the gate where you came in, and up the side of the hill. This lets you avoid the group just up the hill from the gate.

Eveli will have two suggestions on how to find the prison. The optional objective to not kill any Vosh Rakh is still in effect. There is a Breton out on the walkway near the tower that you can try and get to tell you where the prison is – if you can get to him without drawing attention, perhaps if another player has cleared the mobs in the way. Both paths out to the bridge across the ravine have packs of Vosh Rakh standing around. Easier is to eavesdrop on some of the Vosh Rakh in the courtyard.

The optional objective is considered complete once you talk to Eveli and she drops the rope into the well. Once in the prison, if you successfully met the optional objective, talk to Frilan. He will offer you a potion to protect you from the poison in the Chamber of Scorn. He also gives you a tip on how to disable the spike traps in the spike room.

The first round of the Chamber of Scorn will be two ogres, the second two trolls, the third one caster and the fourth a final boss. Caster has around 60k health, while the boss has around 110k. The poison will fill the room faster for each round and you'll have to kill the mobs faster.

In the spike room, the controls reset after a time unless you first turn the fourth wheel found around the corner at the exit. You'll still have to get all three valves closed before any of the spikes shut off, but it gives you time to heal damage between attempts.

Once outside the prison, you'll need to negotiate with the chief who turns out to be Bazrag, with the help of Eveli, in a rather heated maner. Bazrag denied that he was behinde the temple attack and told you to find her wife Ulsha to comfirm it.

Notes[edit]

  • A relic for the House of Orsimer Glories, Guthrag's Mask, is located in Fharun Stronghold and can be conveniently obtained while doing this quest. Before dropping down the well, head up the hill behind the building next to it. The mask is located at the top of the watchtower.
  • For clarity's sake, the wording of the optional objective is quite literal. You can aggro the Vosh Rahk and will not fail the optional objective, as long as you deaggro them by running away without killing any of them.
    • If you are detected heading to Quan, keep running all the way to him and pursuers should turn back.
  • Farhun Prison, unlike the stronghold above, is an instanced location.
  • If you killed any Vosh Rahk in the stronghold above, Frilan Ruman will be found slain in the prison rather than alive.
  • While displayed as a hint required to progress the quest, speaking to Frilan Ruman upon accessing the prison isn't mandatory to find the chief.
    • Skipping him the first time prevents you from accessing the buff against the poison in the Chamber of Scorn later on however.
    • While described as very lethal by Frilan and the chief, the poison deployed in the Chamber of Scorn deals minimal damage, even when not buffed by Frilan's potion.
  • Ulsha and her warriors won't exist on the cliff by the road into the stronghold before starting the quest or reaching the related objective.

Bugs[edit]

  • Eveli vanishes into thin air instead of running off after you talk to her after accepting the quest. ?
  • The valve levers in the spike room can all be activated prior to talking with Chief Bazrag, but nothing will occur then. ?
  • The spike room timer remains visible on-screen for the rest of its current duration after activating all the levers and completing this step of the quest. ?

Quest Stages[edit]

To Save a Chief
Finishes Quest Journal Entry
Eveli said the High Priestess wants to talk to me. I should go to the Temple of Ire in Orsinium and find out what this is all about.
Objective: Talk to High Priestess Solgra.
High Priestess Solgra received news that one of the clan chiefs was taken captive by Trinimac extremists known as the Vosh Rakh. She asked me to go to Fharun Stronghold, meet up with Eveli, and find a way to rescue the chief.
Objective: Meet Eveli at Fharun Stronghold.
Optional Step: Avoid killing Vosh Rakh to remain undetected.
I found Eveli at Fharun Stronghold. I should talk to her and see if she's learned anything that can aid us in this situation.
Objective: Talk to Eveli Sharp-Arrow.
Optional Step: Avoid killing Vosh Rakh to remain undetected.
Eveli discovered that there's a large prison of some sort somewhere within Fharun Stronghold. I need to look around and see if I can determine the location of the prison without raising the alarm.
Objective: Locate the hidden prison.
Optional Step: Avoid killing Vosh Rakh to remain undetected.
I discovered that the prison is hidden beneath Fharun Stronghold. I should meet Eveli behind the great hall and exchange information before we attempt to get inside.
Objective: Rendezvous with Eveli Sharp-Arrow.
Eveli secured the rope and dropped it into the well. I should climb down and see if I can locate the clan chief that the cult has taken prisoner.
Objective: Enter the underground prison.
I need to search the underground prison and find the Orc chief taken captive by the Vosh Rakh.
Objective: Rescue the Orc chief.
Objective Hint: Talk to Frilan Ruman.
Chief Bazrag is the prisoner? I should talk to him and find out what's going on here.
Objective: Talk to Chief Bazrag.
I need to escort Chief Bazrag safely out of the prison and back to High Priestess Solgra. Then maybe we can figure out what's really going on here.
Objective: Escort Chief Bazrag to Safety.
I escorted Chief Bazrag out of the Fharun prison. I should talk to him and see if I can figure out what's really going on here.
Objective: Talk to Chief Bazrag.
Eveli arrived and helped defuse the situation before Chief Bazrag did something rash. I should talk to her and decide what we ought to do with the chief.
Objective: Talk to Eveli Sharp-Arrow.
While Eveli escorts Chief Bazrag to meet with High Priestess Solgra, I need to find Ulsha outside of Fharun Stronghold. Maybe she can give me proof that Bazrag wasn't involved in the temple attack.
Objective: Find Ulsha outside Fharun.
Ulsha confirmed that Chief Bazrag was being attacked by the Vosh Rakh at the same time as the temple was under assault in Orsinium. She has agreed to investigate the event as long as I do the same.
Objective: Talk to Ulsha.

  • Not all Journal Entries may appear in your journal; which entries appear and which entries do not depends on the manner in which the quest is done.
  • Stages are not always in order of progress. This is usually the case with quests that have multiple possible outcomes or quests where certain tasks may be done in any order. Some stages may therefore repeat objectives seen in other stages.
