Quick Walkthrough[edit]
- Speak to Elmus at Thirsk Mead Hall.
- Retrieve one sample of juniper berries.
- Return to Elmus.
Detailed Walkthrough[edit]
After the Nords from Bujold's Retreat have retaken Thirsk Mead Hall, speak to Elmus there to learn that he is in need of some juniper berries to make some mead:
- How is the mead?
- "We lost most of the batches we had brewing when... before those things were here. One is just ready to take its turn, though, and it's about time to add some of the flavorings. You can't find them on Solstheim, but if you find yourself back in Skyrim, I wouldn't mind you bringing some juniper berries. They add a different kind of sweetness. Tart. Makes the flavor more round."
The largest number of juniper berries can be found in the Reach, but you can also find some elsewhere, or buy them from various apothecary merchants. Elmus will tell you that you can't find juniper berries in Solstheim, but this is not true; there's a juniper plant in the exterior area of Nchardak.
Once you have retrieved a sample of the ingredient, return to Elmus at Thirsk Mead Hall for your reward: ten bottles of Ashfire Mead and a leveled amount of gold:
- I've got some juniper berries. (Give berries.)
- "Oh, perfect. Just the right ripeness, too. Good work, friend."

Notes
- Any text displayed in angle brackets (e.g.,
<Alias=LocationHold>
) is dynamically set by the Radiant Quest system, and will be filled in with the appropriate word(s) when seen in game. - Not all Journal Entries may appear in your journal; which entries appear and which entries do not depends on the manner in which the quest is done.
- Stages are not always in order of progress. This is usually the case with quests that have multiple possible outcomes or quests where certain tasks may be done in any order. Some stages may therefore repeat objectives seen in other stages.
- If an entry is marked as "Finishes Quest" it means the quest disappears from the Active Quest list, but you may still receive new entries for that quest.
- On the PC, it is possible to use the console to advance through the quest by entering
setstage DLC2ThirskFFElmusBack stage
, wherestage
is the number of the stage you wish to complete. It is not possible to un-complete (i.e. go back) quest stages, but it is possible to clear all stages of the quest usingresetquest DLC2ThirskFFElmusBack
.
Bugs[edit]
- The dialogue to start the quest may not appear after finishing Retaking Thirsk. To fix this, enter the command:
setstage DLC2ThirskFFElmusBack 0
