Aurilyn Glennec is a Breton Rogue and former highwayman repenting her sins at the Monastery of St. Aralor. She is a fount of knowledge concerning the criminal gangs of the region and their bases, and asking her about the someone in particular topic will induce her to share it.
Each gang referenced does exist somewhere within game, and many are involved in quests. Aurilyn has additional (if perfunctory) dialogue if you have already met and killed the criminals she mentions.
Notes[edit]
- Aurilyn references an Armun Ashlands iron mine that she was to be sent to as part of her sentence if she did not come to the monastery - this is likely Ushu-Kur Mine, an iron mine for convicts that features heavily in Andothren's Fighters Guild questline.
- Some of the gangs referenced by Aurilyn are involved in quests, such as Heem-Wan and Illisheeus (Killing of Ulves Heladren), Vespertius Pertinax (A Rope Salesman) and the Vanishing Highwaymen (The Vanishing Highwaymen).
Dialogue[edit]
- Greetings:
- "Hello there! My name is %Name. It's not often that I get the pleasure of talking to another outlander here in Saint Aralor's Tough Love Institute for Troubled Boys and Girls. What misfortune has brought you here? You don't look like the mad zealot type to me..."
- background: "My name is Aurilyn Glennec. I am just a novice in this monastery now, but my trade used to be that of a highwayman."
- bandits in Roth Roryn: "Let's see... There's the Viperblade gang, the Vanishing Highwaymen, the Ruby Pond boys, Heem-Wan and Illisheeus, the Mad Moonshiners, Bone-Eater's gang, Vespertius Pertinax, and Holst the Hound. Just to name a few."
- Bone-Eater's gang: "They are a gang of cannibals and troll-worshipers. They call their leader Bone-Eater... I've never met him, and with a name like that I'm glad I haven't. Their camp is southeast of the Daedric ruins of Ossurnashalit, in a cave called Suldunanit."
- Heem-Wan and Illisheeus: "The two Argonian rogues target the local plantations. They used to just rob and steal, but lately I've heard reports that they've started to murder as many Dark Elves as they can. I reckon it has something to do with getting even with the slave owners. I myself have always understood greed much better than vengeance, but hey, to each their own."
- Holst the Hound: "That madman hardly counts as a proper highwayman. He is a giant Nord who is always accompanied by a pack of nix-hounds. I think he might've been raised by them. There's no reasoning with Holst, so be careful if you travel in the area south of Menaan. That's where he usually hunts."
- Mad Moonshiners: "Bunch of drunken idiots, who brew their own sujamma. Supposedly, it makes them super strong. Their hideout is the Zabamallit cave, southwest of this monastery."
- Monastery of St. Aralor: "Yes, this is a monastery. But don't be fooled by the monks. You'll find all kinds of thieves, scoundrels, bandits, extortionists, daggerlads, smugglers, murderers, blackcaps, cutthroats, kidnappers and kneecappers here. Worst of the worst, really -- myself included. Just because we've put on a robe and memorized some platitudinous proverbs doesn't change who we are."
- my trade: "I used to be a highwayman. A pretty good one too. I had this whole damsel-in-distress act. I'd get dolled up and stand by the road all teary-eyed and looking like I needed rescuing. Eventually, some oafish man would come down the road and he'd stop and ask me what's wrong and I'd tell him that I had lost my ankle bracelet and needed help to find it. And they'd all invariably look down at my bare ankle and then I'd whack them on the head and empty their pockets. Easy as pie. Worked every time. Well, almost every time... Eventually, I did come across a man who wasn't interested in my ankle. I mean, how was I supposed to anticipate that? Long story short, he dodged getting whacked on the head and went and got the guards to arrest me. They said that I could either do three years of hard labor in an iron mine somewhere in the Armun Ashlands or I could become a novice of the Temple and come here to repent my sins. So, here I am. Repenting, see?"
- Ruby Pond boys: "Those foolish boys are led by Colennus Adralis, a Legion deserter. Their hideout is in Adammuburtu, southwest of Teyn. That place is an abandoned ruby mine and it's by a pond -- hence the name of the gang. Not very imaginative, if you ask me."
- Saint Aralor: "They say before he was a saint, Aralor did all sorts of bad things. Murders and muggings and whatnot. The Dark Elves think that this place is where the goddess Almalexia showed him mercy and made him change his ways."
- someone in particular: "The only one of importance in this monastery is the Curate, Dram Marvos. However, if you're interested in the who's who of the criminal world, I can tell you about the various bandits in Roth Roryn."
- Temple: "I'll be honest with you, I'm not too knowledgeable about the Temple teachings, but at least they've given a roof over my head and put some food on my plate. And these robes are pretty comfy, too."
- Vanishing Highwaymen: "They appear out of nowhere, rob you blind, and then vanish into thin air. Their leader, Aldaronwe, is a powerful mage, you see. She's outfitted her gang with teleportation spells. The gang's hideout is in the Llendu ancestral tomb, to the west of here -- but you probably won't find them in there unless they've just robbed some poor devil and have gone back to divide the loot."
- Vespertius Pertinax: "Old Vespertius poses as a salesman and robs travelers who are foolish enough to talk to him. Anyone who doesn't pay up gets the rope. But other than that the old fox is quite the gentleman. There's something really charming about that silver hair, let me tell you. Last I heard, he was on the road east of Omaynis."
- Viperblade gang: "The Viperblades are armed with poisoned weapons. Their camp is in the mountains northwest of the ancient Velothi tower of Ald Virak."
