Detailed Walkthrough[edit]

The Amulet[edit]

The next task Ratagos gives you is to retrieve the Amulet of Seht's Warding. He claims the amulet was created by Sotha Sil, and has the power to protect its wearer from even the most powerful spells. It has recently fallen into the hands of the Telvanni, and now the Temple wants it back. Ratagos tells you that it can be found in Tel Darys, the tower of Mistress Eldale, who has a fondness for Chimeri relics. He gives you 1200 gold and tells you to obtain the amulet by whatever means necessary.

The Journey[edit]

Tel Darys is the tower of Gah Sadrith, which is a tough journey from Ranyon-ruhn. The quickest route in real time is to take the silt-strider to Tel Ouada, then a river-strider to Port Telvannis and another river-strider to Gah Sadrith. Somewhat longer in real time, but quicker in game time is to run to Llothanis then take the river-strider to Port Telvannis from there. However you get there, head to Tel Darys, which is on the east side of town. Mistress Eldale can be found in the highest part of the Upper Tower, and you will need some form of levitation to reach her.

The Deal[edit]

The Amulet sits on a copy of the book On Elemental Daedra in Eldale's chambers under the permanent gaze of her Mud Golem servant. Talk to her about the amulet and she will tell you to talk to Ultern, her lieutenant, who can be found nearby.

When you talk to Ultern, you are given the option of paying 750, 1000 or 1500 gold, telling him the amulet is a fake and offering just 400 gold, or offering to exchange it for another Chimeri artifact. The latter option is only viable if you retrieved the Kana-revis sickle from Dadrunibi. If you have it, your intelligence is at least 45 and your speechcraft is 25 or over, Ultern will believe your story that the sickle once belonged to a Chimeri Daedric Priest and exchange it for the amulet. Otherwise, you'll have to pay him for it.

If you claim the amulet is a fake, Ultern will only believe you fully if your intelligence is 60+ and your speechcraft is 50+, and he will accept your offer of 400 gold to save face. If your intelligence is 55+ and your speechcraft 40+, he won't be entirely convinced, but will take 600 gold instead.

Haggling the price depends on your mercantile and speechcraft skills. To get Ultern to accept 750 gold, your mercantile must be 50 or above and your speechcraft at least 40. To get a price of 1000 gold, both skills must be 25 or above. Even the 1500 gold price comes with conditions: your speechcraft must be 20+ and your personality at least 35. If you don't meet any of those conditions, theft is the only option.

The Return[edit]

However you obtain the amulet, return with it to Ranyon-ruhn. Luckily, a simple Almsivi Intervention effect will take you back to the temple, skipping a tortuous return journey. For your reward, you get to keep whatever gold you didn't spend on the amulet, plus you gain three temple reputation points.
