Packmaster Rethelros

Packmaster Rethelros is a Wood Elf and a member of the Recollection. You will face him within Malacath's Crown at the Oathsworn Pit, where he acts as the first boss, alongside alongside his wolf companion, Malthil.

Skills and Abilities

Quick Shot

A basic ranged ability that deals moderate physical damage.

Ensnaring Bolt

While Malthil is using "Scent", "Quick Shot" becomes "Ensnaring Bolt" instead. A basic melee attack that deals moderate physical damage and snares targets, making them easier to get caught by his wolf.

Directed Volley

Packmaster Rethelros fires a rain of arrows at a specific target, indicated by several back to back red circles, dealing continuous high physical damage.

Bear Trap

Packmaster Rethelros lays six bear traps down in the arena, indicated by red circles. Standing in one deals high physical damage and immobilizes you.

Cinder Shot

Rethelros picks a target and lines up a shot which fires straight, indicated by a thin but very long red rectangle, dealing high flame damage. He can adjust his trajectory while channeling.

Summon Protective Totem

Packmaster Rethelros blows a hunting horn, and summons a Protective Totem, which tethers itself to both bosses with a blue beam. They'll take less damage while this totem is up: destroy it to maximize your group's damage output. Having the tank drag the wolf to the totem may be a worthy endeavor if the Packmaster Rethelros isn't too close to it.

Blood Bond

Packmaster Rethelros and Malthil must be kept away from each other, or else they'll empower each other's strikes. This is indicated by massive red circles around both of them that appear when they are close enough to activate this effect. The tank should pull the wolf away while the group deals with the archer.

Teleport

Packmaster Rethelros can teleport away or closer to targets, or his wolf, using smoke bombs.

Dialogue

When you enter Malacath's Crown, you'll find that Packmaster Rethelros and his wolf have cornered Black-Glove Garm.

Packmaster Rethelros: "I'm running out of patience. Tell everyone to join us or die."

While idling, he may say one of the following:

Packmaster Rethelros: "The Black-Glove will be dead soon. You want to join him?"

Packmaster Rethelros: "Too scared to fight me? You can always run away."

Packmaster Rethelros: "I don't suppose you want to join the winning side?"

Packmaster Rethelros: "Orcs talk up Malacath's vengeance, but if this is what it is, I'm not scared."

When you enter combat, he'll say:

Packmaster Rethelros: "For the pack!"

Packmaster Rethelros: "You'll die here!"

Packmaster Rethelros: "We'll tear you to pieces!"

Using Cinder Shot:

Packmaster Rethelros: "I will scorch you where you stand!"

Packmaster Rethelros: "Choke on fire!"

Packmaster Rethelros: "No one will find your charred corpses!"

Packmaster Rethelros: "The fire will engulf you!"

Packmaster Rethelros: "No one survives me."

Attacked while affected a Protective Totem:

Packmaster Rethelros: "We're safe, but you aren't."

Packmaster Rethelros: "Ha! Your attacks are useless!"

Packmaster Rethelros: "Just try hurting us now!"

Packmaster Rethelros: "Malthil is my last wolf. I won't lose her."

If your group wipes, he'll say:

Packmaster Rethelros: "Looks like that oath wasn't good for anything after all."

Packmaster Rethelros: "The pack feasts tonight!"

Packmaster Rethelros: "Even the Black-Glove lasted longer than that."

Packmaster Rethelros: "The Recollection remembers, but you were forgettable."
