Matron Elgroalif was a powerful Reachfolk witch associated with the Ghostsong Clan. Together with Witch-Lord Kegairn and few other members of the clan, they conducted a series of dark rituals at Four Skull Lookout that posed a severe threat to the Reach. She was a known void mage who had successfully undergone the transformation to become a Voidmother.[1][2][3]

History[edit]

The ritual at Four Skulls Lookout

Very little information is known about Elgroalif's past, except that she held the position of matron within the Ghostsong clan and was a practitioner of void magic. Over time, she became a Voidmother. In 2E 582, a branch of the Ghostsong led by her and Witch-Lord Kegairn engaged in forbidden rituals at Four Skull Lookout.[1][2][3] Their activities involved tapping into Namira's power for potentially catastrophic purposes, and they resorted to abducting innocent Reachmen for their sinister ceremonies. These unholy rituals inadvertently tore holes in the natural fabric of reality, leading to the release of unstable forces. Additionally, she was branded a heretic, not just for perverting the rituals of Namira, but also for her act of transcribing the ritual details. This uncommon practice led to comparisons with Nord heretics.[1][4][5]

The Stonehands, a faction of Reachfolk under the command of Ard Caddach of Markarth, committed themselves to countering a range of threats within the Reach. Recognizing the Ghostsong clan as a renegade faction, the Stonehands enlisted the help of wandering adventurers and other individuals to tackle this looming peril. Their objectives included liberating innocent captives, closing the mystical rifts spawned by the rituals, and confiscating and disposing of the heretical writings that documented the dark ceremonies. To counter these disturbances, they provided mercenaries with a charm capable of sealing the rifts created by Elgroalif's magic.[1][6] In the end, Elgroalif met her demise at the hands of mercenaries employed by the Stonehands. These mercenaries intervened, securing the release of the captives, closing the ruptures, and delivering the ritual notes to the Stonehands for preservation and eventual destruction. With her death, the looming threat and potential calamity she posed were successfully averted.[7][8][9]
